(GSM) – Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger is hoping Kieran Gibbs’ injury will not keep the England defender out of action for a long period.

Gibbs, who missed a large part of last season because of a similar injury, hobbled out after 102 minutes of Arsenal’s Carling Cup extra-time win at Tottenham Hotspur.

Wenger is now hoping that he receives some positive news on the promising England defender.

“We have to check, that is the only disappointment of the night, because Gibbs had a very good game,” said the Arsenal manager.

“We hope we do not get bad news tomorrow morning.

“It is a metatarsal again, it is the one next to the one he had broken, the second one, so we hope we have good news tomorrow morning, because that would be a massive blow to us.”
