Wenger: I do my best for Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he needs to make ‘controversial’ decisions to move the club forward.

The Frenchman saw star midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri both leave this summer – to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively – and fans have been left disillusioned by a lack of new faces at the Emirates.

But Wenger had claimed he tries to ‘do the best’ for the team he has managed for 15 years.

“I look at the opinions of people, of course, but if I feel deeply about a decision then I do it. It is sometimes controversial,” he told Arsenal’s official website.

“I do not think I know everything about football but I have massive experience.”

“You have to be open-minded and humble, but also determined when you have beliefs. We care about opinions, but at the end of the day you have to make decisions. I personally try to do what is right for this club when I make a decision.”

After years of struggling to find a reliable goalkeeper, the Gunners finally seem to have settled on young Pole Wojciech Szczesny and Wenger used that as an example of waiting for the right player to come along.

“Think about the goalkeeping situation for example, where everybody pushed us to buy a player,” he added.

“Today that situation has changed [with the emergence of Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski].”
