Wenger let down by Gallas

Whether William Gallas was stripped of the captaincy by Arsene Wenger or made the decision to step down himself is not clear, but the fact that it is the right decision is almost indisputable.

Sky Sports conducted a simple poll yesterday. The question was simply, ‘is William Gallas the right man to captain Arsenal?’

An astonishing 84.6% of voters said that he wasn’t. That is about as conclusive as you will get.

He isn’t in the Arsenal squad for today’s trip to Manchester City and his days at The Emirates may well be numbered. I would imagine that Arsene Wenger feels very let down by a man in whom he had shown a great deal of trust, faith and patience.
