Wenger looking elsewhere after withdrawing Suarez interest

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he has ended his pursuit of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, according to the Guardian.

The Arsenal manager has seen two bids for the Uruguay international rejected by the Merseyside club so far this summer, the last of which worth £40,000,001.

A third bid had been expected to be made by Gunners, though the club will now turn their attention elsewhere.

The Express understands that the club are planning to launch a double raid on Real Madrid for Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria.

It is thought that manager Carlo Ancelotti would be willing to part company with Benzema despite the club having a shortage of recognised centre forwards, while Di Maria is set to become surplus to requirements should Gareth Bale complete his world record move to the Bernabeu.

The Gunners are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League group stages after winning the first leg of their play-off with Fenerbache by three goals to nil.
