A report from the Daily Mail today suggests that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to boost his squad in the summer transfer window with more players from the Bundesliga.
Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski have both been signed from the German top flight recently and now Wenger is turning his attention towards Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrler and Lewis Holtby of Schalke.
Schurrler was a member of Germany’s European Championship squad and is capable of playing out wide or as a forward, so certainly adds some versatility to a team.
Chelsea tried to sign him back in August for a fee believed to be around £20 million and it is thought that Leverkusen want at least that amount this summer.
As for Holtby, he is out of contract at Schalke at the end of the season and after impressing when playing at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League last month, caught Wenger’s eye.
Liverpool are also keen on signing Holtby though, who is an Everton fan that many believe would love a chance to play in the English Premier League.
With the Gunners boss looking to add more numbers to his squad in the summer, it could mean that Theo Walcott is on his way out.
