Wenger not worried by ‘keeper injury crisis

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will not be dipping into the emergency loan market to land a goal-keeper, despite the injury crisis he is currently facing in that position, that is according to Talk Sport.

At the moment, Wenger is without his number one and two ‘keepers with Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski both currently on the sidelines.

Szczesny looks as though he is only a week or so away from competing in the English Premier League again, but he does keep suffering setbacks and Wenger may not want to rush him into action.

Fabianski faces a lot longer watching from the stands though as it is thought that he will still be out for another three months.

This has meant that Italian Vito Mannone has had to step up to the plate and he is currently the only senior shot-stopper for Wenger to call upon.

However, this does not mean that the Gunners boss will be bringing anyone in on loan. When asked if he would consider it, Wenger said:  “No.”

“We still have Mannone, and Szczesny comes back next week or in two weeks’ time at the latest.”

If Szczesny does suffer more time on the sidelines than expected though – that could be when the Frenchman realises he needs cover.
