Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to have made a last minute attempt to sign Bordeaux star Marouane Chamakh.
The Moroccan international has been subject to increased speculation on a move away from the Stade Chaban-Delmas, with numerous Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, West Ham and Sunderland said to have expressed interest over the summer.ÂÂ
West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola is still said to interested in signing the 25-year-old, despite reports that Chamakh has turned down a move to Upton Park.
“Yes, indeed, my representatives were in London,” he said in L’Equipe. “Maybe the offer has come too late.ÂÂ
“I am focused on Bordeaux, but you never know what can happen. Let us say there is a 90 per cent chance that I will stay and a 10% chance that I will leave.”
However many still believe the Moroccan striker is awaiting a bid from Arsenal after rumours emerged that he will not sign a new contract at the Ligue 1 side.
Wenger is certainly no newcomer to last minute deals with Andriy Arshavin signing at the deadline back in January.
