Wenger praises Gunners’ dynamic attack

Arsenal F.C. boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the Gunners’ current attacking line-up is the club’s best since the Thierry Henry era.

At the moment, Wenger has an embarrassment of riches of attacking talent to choose from, including the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Alex-Oxlade, Chamberlain, Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud, Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott.

“A prolific Premier League attack should score between 70 to 100 goals in a season. We are not there yet, but this attack is our best since Thierry Henry’s days,” Wenger said.

“This one has the most potential since Thierry’s time and this weekend is the first time we have been able to line them up all together, so we are yet to see what they are capable of achieving.

“Giroud’s style is less elegant than strikers before him like Robin van Persie, but he has progressed a lot and he is now a complete striker because he has added decisive passes to his game. He works for the team more than most players who contribute that many goals.”

How the Frenchman will manage to choose a starting XI week in and week out is beyond me, but he must  do so when Arsenal travel to Selhurst Park to take on Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Palace, who are 3-1-1 in their last five English Premier League fixtures, could welcome back captain Mile Jedinak for Saturday’s clash against the Gunners, while Shola Ameobi is also expected to be available to feature for the Eagles.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday’s match against his nemesis, Pardew said: “There’s a man [Wenger] who has been a Premier League for I don’t’ know how many years, probably two more than he would care to remember.

“He is a winner and so am I, so when we clash we’re going to clash. We both want to win and that’s it. It ends there. We are professional football managers and we want to win. It will be the same on Saturday.

“The key to beating Arsenal is to be impatient at times, having enough attacking threat, controlling some of the game.

“They are in great form, the last five games they have won two more points than us.

“We’re in decent form, it’s at our place and we need to improve our home form. The focus at this ground is just about getting our fans in a great place.”

Crystal Palace (15/4); Arsenal (5/6); Draw (11/4)
