A report from the Sun is suggesting that Arsene Wenger will try and bring Newcastle United striker Demba Ba to North London in the January transfer window.
It is well known that the Senegalese international has a £7.5 million release clause on his current contract with the Magpies and with the form he has been in, is sure to attract the attention of a number of clubs.
Alan Pardew admitted that the club were trying to sort out a new-deal for their leading scorer to prevent him being able to leave in the New Year, but it does not seem as though he will be able to do that right now.
The 27-year-old scored two goals in the Newcastle’s English Premier League tie against Wigan Athletic on Monday evening, which would have made a number of clubs take even more notice of him.
Reports suggest that he is happy in the North East, but wants to be paid what he feels his recent performances deserve.
Wenger is on the lookout for a proven Premier League goal-scorer and could even be prepared to tempt Ba to the Emirates Stadium with a £60,000-per-week deal, plus add-ons.
It is certainly a story to keep an eye on.
