Wenger rejects Van Persie rumours

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has moved to deny reports linking Robin van Persie with a move to Manchester City.

Several media reports suggested that Manchester City were planning a January bid for Robin van Persie, but Wenger has denied such allegations.

“This is a story created to create a story. There is no truth to it. There is nothing to say really,” Wenger said at a pre-match press conference.

“Anybody who wants to sign one of our players can call me. Everybody has my phone number.

“I don’t know why we are even speaking about transfers. Robin is under contract until 2013.”
