Arsene Wenger reckons his young Gunners do not need to leave Arsenal for success. The Gunners looked title candidates for most of the season, but their recent defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford ended those aspirations.
Arsenal were also eliminated from the FA Cup at Old Trafford, while their Champions League defeat at Liverpool and Carling Cup loss at local rivals Tottenham Hotspur means Wenger’s side have still not won a trophy since lifting the 2005 FA Cup.
But the Frenchman is adamant that star names such as Cesc Fabregas and Alexander Hleb do not need to look elsewhere for glory.
“You can go to Real Madrid and Barcelona, but you have no more guarantees to win trophies,” said Wenger, who saw his side return to winning ways with a 2-0 home victory over Reading on Saturday.
