Wenger: We could have signed Modric before Tottenham

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric could have ended up at Arsenal rather than Tottenham, Arsene Wenger has revealed.

The Arsenal boss claims that they were alerted of Luka Modric’s potential before Tottenham, but eventually decided not to make a move for the Croat.

“We knew Modric before Tottenham knew him,” Wenger told reporters.

“We played against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and he played in the same team as Eduardo against us.

“At the time we had Fabregas, not a bad player. But we were interested in Modric.

“He is very mobile. I’m not surprised how well Modric has done, I knew he would do well.”

just let wenger shut his mouth up.That is how he goes about claiming he first saw a player eg Drogba, which implies that our scouting team are faulty.
