Underperforming Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen are said to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements for next season.
Sitting in 13th place in the Bundesliga table, Werder Bremen are getting ready to launch a more ambitious domestic charge next term and will be looking to rebuild their squad during the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old Cypriot defender Konstantinos Laifis is said to be identified as Werder Bremen’s top target, according to Greek media.
Werder Bremen manager Florian Kohfeldt could lose Luca Caldirola and Milos Veljkovic during the summer and he has identified Laifis as the perfect replacement.
Red Goal reports that Olympiacos Piraeus owned centre-back who is currently on loan at Standard Liege has been closely followed by the German club during the past couple of months.
Laifis is enjoying a highly successful spell in his second year with the Belgium behemoths, where he established himself as one of key figures for Standard.
His market value is estimated at €3 million but Werder Bremen are hoping that a fee in the region of €1.8 million would be enough to acquire his services.
