Werder are on the verge of signing Bayern Munich striker Nils Petersen, Bild has revealed.
The Bavarians have just completed the capture of Mario Mandzukic from Wolfsburg for a fee of €13 million and having previously brought Claudio Pizarro from Werder, they now have no less than four strikers competing for one place up front.
This basically means that back-up forward Nils Petersen will be allowed to leave the club in the summer transfer window and Bild claims the 23-year-old is nearing a switch to Werder Bremen.
The Weserstadion outfit have been hot on the trail of the young striker for quite a while and they have now decided to take advantage of the situation and make their interest concrete.
Werder Bremen chief Klaus Allofs has confirmed the negotiations have entered the final stage.
“We have done our homework. We are just waiting for the signal from Munich,” Allofs was quoted as saying in Bild.
Nils Petersen joined Bayern Munich last summer from Energie Cottbus, but he only clocked up 9 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians, scoring 2 goals in the process.
