Bundesliga side Werder Bremen has moved to confirm reports linking star player Aaron Hunt with a summer exit.
The 27-year-old will be out of contract in the summer, but the Weserstadion outfit were hoping he will ultimately decide to extend his current deal.
However, they have now admitted defeat in an attempt to keep hold of the highly rated midfielder, with sporting director Thomas Eichin confirming Hunt had rejected their latest offer.
“I have forced the issue and spoke with Aaron’s agent,” Eichin explained to Syker Kreiszeitung. “He has informed me that they will not accept the offer. I accept that.”
Aaron Hunt is likely to move abroad, with Besiktas reportedly leading the chase, although Bourssia M’gladbach are believed to be keen as well.
The experienced footballer has spent his entire career up to date at Werder Bremen, making 208 Bundesliga appearances and scoring 43 goals in the process.
After suffering back to back defeats to Freiburg and Wolfsburg, Werder face Hannover away and they are 14/5 to return to winning ways.
