Werder Bremen are exploring the possibility of signing German defender Diego Contento from Bayern Munich, Bild has revealed.
The Weserstadion outfit have started the search for a new left-sided defender, and they seem to have set their sights on the Bayern starlet.
Werder officials have yet to open talks with their Bundesliga rivals, but it looks as though they will have to make an extra effort to lure the talented footballer to Bremen.
While Contento would probably be tempted by the prospect of regular playing time, the problem is he is the only back-up for starting left-back David Alaba at Alianz Arena.
Meanwhile, Werder are not the only club interested in his services, with other clubs from Germany and Italy also keen.
Diego Contento has spent last four years in Bayern’s first team set-up, making a total of 38 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians, and he has yet to score a goal in official competition for the club.
