Werner finally signs new Leipzig contract

He is staying! After months and months of talks about his future, Timo Werner will be RB Leipzig player at least until the end of the 2019-20 season. The German forward has signed a new contract with the club from Eastern Germany and thus ending all the rumours, at least for now.

The player signed a four-year contract with Leipzig, which could keep him at the club until June 2023, but for now the most important thing for everyone at the club is that he will not be leaving on a free transfer next summer. Bayern Munich were truly interested to get Werner to Allianz Arena, but in the end it became apparent that will not happen this year. With Werner’s contract initially set to end next June, there was a real possibility of Bayern signing him on a free transfer from 1 July 2020 onwards.

But this contract has changed that and if Werner is to move anywhere in the near future, Leipzig are set to earn a nice transfer fee.
