Timo Werner is reportedly waiting to see if Liverpool will come in to take him to Anfield before considering any other option.
Simon Hughes of The Athletic writes that the RB Leipzig forward was indeed on the verge of completing a move to Bayern Munich last spring as a number of outlets reported at the time, but the Bavarians eventually opted to push harder for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane. When that move fell through due to Sane damaging his ACL, they turned back towards Werner, but it was too late. Werner had already agreed a new contract with Leipzig, having marked the business as failed.
Recently, the 24-year-old has been heavily flirting with Liverpool, naming them and their manager Jurgen Klopp as the best in the world, and expressed his own belief that his own style would suit the reigning champions of Europe. There are offers from Manchester United and Barcelona, but he apparently doesn’t consider them prospects as attractive as Liverpool are. The Merseyside club have until April to make their move if they are to wrap the deal up for £51 million – a bargain price for a player that has so far scored 28 goals in 34 games in all competitions this season.
