The rumours surrounding the future of Timo Werner of RB Leipzig are coming out thick at the moment. It’s hardly surprising, given that he’s been on red-hot form this season, scoring 20 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances to get his team to the top of the table. The player himself recently praised the English Premier League as the most interesting competition.
The latest report comes from Bild in Germany, who claim that the versatile forward is wanted by Liverpool and Chelsea, and given those two options he prefers the Champions League holders to the team that won the last edition of the Europa League.
On the other hand, Liverpool already boast a formidable front line where even Werner would be far from a guaranteed starter, and they recently added Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg – another extremely versatile attacking player – to their ranks. Journalists from Liverpool Echo don’t believe the Reds are in for a player rumoured to cost €60 million for a position they are well stocked with. On the other hand, they do admit that manager Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the German international.
Werner has also been linked with Real Madrid recently.
