Timo Werner of RB Leipzig seems to be set to move to Bayern Munich this summer.
Several months ago, reports appeared that the Bavarians had a deal with the striker in place, but Bayern soon denied it. The same rumour started flowing around media outlets again recently, and according to usually very reliable German journalist Raphael Honigstein, the Bundesliga champions don’t deny it anymore.
Werner has 12 more months remaining on his contract, and Leipzig were adamant that he would either sign a new deal or leave this summer, ruling out the possibility of a free transfer. However, the striker himself has indicated that in fact he does intend to run his contract down, similar to the way Robert Lewandowski earned his move to the Allianz Arena from Borussia Dortmund.
At the moment, all negotiations have been put on hold until after the DFB-Pokal final, where these two clubs are set to face each other.
