Liverpool chairman Tom Werner is hoping for a prompt resolution to the ongoing speculation surrounding Andy Carroll’s future at the club.
Carroll’s former club Newcastle United have been credited with an interest in the England international and have already seen a loan bid rejected by the Reds.
Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted the club will listen to offers made for the striker and Werner insisted that the Ulsterman will be the one to decide if the 35-million-pound man leaves or not.
He told Sky Sports News: “Hopefully the question will be answered shortly, but at the moment Andy is on the team and we look forward to him contributing.
“Brendan is clearly the leader here. The only thing I can say is we will do what is best for the club.
“At the moment Andy is on the squad, he is an important member of the England team and he has a lot of talent. We will see what happens.”
Carroll has scored just 11 goals for Liverpool since his record-breaking transfer in January 2011.
