Wesley Hoedt set to join Southampton

Various reports in Italy suggest that Southampton have reached an agreement with Lazio to sign defender Wesley Hoedt.

The Saints expect to stay without Virgil van Dijk, who recently submitted a transfer request, and they plan to replace him with his compatriot.

Southampton reportedly had a €15 million proposal accepted for the 23-year-old footballer, who has already said goodbye to his teammates.

Hoedt joined Lazio on a free transfer from AZ Alkmaar two years ago and went on to make 61 competitive outings for the club, scoring 4 goals.

The talented centre-back was handed his Netherlands debut earlier this year and currently has four caps to his name.
