West Bromwich are still hoping to sign Ivorian forward Salomon Kalou from Lille, according to assistant coach Keith Downing.
The former Chelsea starlet has expressed his desire to return to English Premier League on a number of occasions, and he has in turn been linked with West Ham and West Bromwich.
West Brom assistant coach Keith Downing has revealed that the Baggies have been in talks with the player and they are hopeful he will accept an offer from the Hawthorns.
“We’ve stated an interest, we’ve had some negotiations and we’re hopeful he’ll come to West Brom,” Downing was quoted as saying in Birmingham Mail.
Kalou raised quite a few eyebrows when he decided to join Lille after his contract at Stamford Bridge had run out last summer.
In spite of the slow start to his career in France, the Ivorian improved to score 14 goals in 28 Ligue 1 games for les Dogues.
However, he does seem to be hoping for a return to English Premiership, with West Brom reportedly leading the race.
