West Brom confirms interest in Aston Villa star

West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that he is interested in signing Aston Villa striker John Carew.

The Norwegian international has long been linked with a move away from Villa and it is expected that the striker will leave following the club’s signing of Darren Bent from Sunderland.

Di Matteo confirmed: “They (Villa) know of our interest (in Carew ).

“But obviously it has been a bit hectic there the last couple of days (with the Bent signing).

“We have a few other options as well that we are pushing forward with.”
