West Brom travel to Everton with just one point from their last three league games – but manager Roberto Di Matteo is not concerned.
“We believe we can win the game and draw a line under the previous games,” Di Matteo said of his side’s English Premier League fortunes.
“It will be an interesting game. (Everton) are a good side with some very good players.”
“Our performances have been quite good, getting close to winning and drawing, but we have not been rewarded with what we have produced and have not been happy with some of the decisions given against us.”
The former Chelsea midfielder does not want his team compared to the Tony Mowbray side that struggled from the start two seasons ago.
Albion are in 16th with 16 points – two points from the relegation zone, but just six points behind Bolton Wanderers in fifth place.
“It is still early in the season,” Di Matteo added. “There are many more games to play and we believe we can win more games.”
“Compared to two years ago we are in a better position than we were. I don’t see why we should be depressed.”
“We need to be more clinical in front of goal and we need that little bit of fortune sometimes – the deflected goal. The chances we create means it is a healthy squad.”
Defender Jonas Olsson is definitely out for the Everton clash with an Achilles tendon strain, while midfielder Chris Brunt is unlikely to feature as he battles a groin complaint.
