According to a recent report from Sky Sports, West Bromwich Albion are interested in trying to sign Watford striker Troy Deeney.
While the Hornets aren’t actively looking to sell right now, the fact that they’ve slipped back down into the second tier could persuade Deeney to leave – and it’ll certainly help matters that he’s from Birmingham.
Deeney has always been viewed as an underrated forward, but one club that probably won’t want to see this deal go through is Wolverhampton Wanderers. Deeney was the thorn in their side during their heartbreaking FA Cup semi-final defeat to Watford last year, and if he winds up signing for the Baggies, he’ll be positioned as enemy number one when the two rivals meet in the first Black Country derby for eight years next January.
Either way, though, the value of Deeney as a veteran striker for any top flight club cannot be understated.
