Market: Pepe Mel next Premier League manager to leave
Odds: 2/1 @ Ladbrokes
Following reports of unrest within the camp, West Bromwich Albion manager Pepe Mel is reportedly close to the sack. The Spanish boss hasn’t fared well in his first season in the Premier League – amassing just four points from his first six games in charge. Baggies are yet to win under Mel, and it’s believed the players are struggling to adapt to his high-tempo and high-pressing style.
With West Brom currently just one place above the relegation zone, one point clear of 18th-placed in-form Sunderland – who have played a game less – Ladbrokes are giving odds of 2/1 for Pepe Mel to be the next Premier League manager to leave.
Jeremy Peace, West Brom’s chairman, has already sacked popular manager Steve Clarke this season following a long run of bad results, and he’ll have no qualms at ending Mel’s short stay at the Hawthorns if he felt the Baggies’ four-year stay in the Premier League was under genuine threat.
The Midlands outfit next face Manchester United at home on the 8th of March, but will Mel be in charge by then?
