West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Andros Townsend from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace before the summer transfer window closes on Monday, according to The Sun. It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Baggies are willing to pay £6 million for the former Tottenham Hotspur winger, but London club Palace are reluctant to sell him without having a replacement signed first.
Townsend is an important player in the current Palace squad, and one can understand why West Brom reportedly want him. The 29-year-old knows the Premier League inside out, and the winger would make Slaven Bilic’s side better in attack.
According to WhoScored, the former Newcastle United winger has scored one goal and provided two assists in four Premier League matches for Palace so far this season. During the 2019-20 campaign, Townsend made 14 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the league for the London club, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
