West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Andy Carroll from Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror (print edition, page 63, December 21, 2020). Newly-appointed West Brom manager Sam Allardyce worked with Carroll when he was in charge of Newcastle and West Ham United, and he is reportedly keen on a reunion with the former Liverpool striker.
Carroll in his second spell at Newcastle at the moment, having returned to St. James’ Park in 2019. The English striker has had injury problems and, when fit, is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup. According to WhoScored, the 31-year-old has made two starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies so far this season.
West Brom are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with seven points from 14 matches. Meanwhile, Newcastle find themselves 12th in the standings with 18 points from 13 games.
