West Ham have moved to confirm speculation that star midfielder Mohamed Diame could leave the club in the January transfer window.
The combative midfielder has largely impressed since arriving on a free transfer from Wigan and has seen his name linked with top Premier League clubs.
Media reports have suggested that the Hammers might not be able to keep hold of the player due to a release clause in his contract, and West Ham chairman has now confirmed the existence of such clause.
“Diame does have a release clause in his three-year contract. He joined us from Wigan on a free transfer,” West Ham co-president David Gold wrote on Twitter.
West Ham produced quite a coup by signing the talented midfielder from Wigan in the summer, beating other interested clubs for the player’s signature.
Diame has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 2 goals in 15 Premier League appearances.
This has led to reports linking him with the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and Everton.
