Premier League high-flyers West Ham have revealed they are interested in signing Shanghai Shenhua striker Nicolas Anelka.
The veteran striker only joined the Chinese club in March, but has been tipped for a Premier League return on numerous occasions.
His club are currently going through a very rough patch and the Frenchman could decide to leave the sinking ship.
Should that happen, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will give his best to lure the highly rated forward to Boleyn Ground.
“It could interest me, of course it could,” Allardyce was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.
“It would be of interest if that is a possibility financially for us and he wanted to come. I have had no conversations with Nicolas’ agent or anything like that at this time.”
Anelka already worked under Allardyce at Bolton, where he managed to kick-start his career following several disappointing spells.
The 33-year-old has scored just 3 goals in 22 league fixtures for Shanghai Shenhua this season, with his side ending the league campaign in 9th place.
His teammate Didier Drogba has also been linked with a return to Europe, with Marseille, Chelsea and Juventus reportedly keen.
