West Ham United a preparing to revive their interest in signing Liverpool’s Stewart Downing, according to the Mail Online.
The England international has once again been told by manager Brendan Rodgers that he can leave, with the Reds ready to accept a fee or around £5m – a quarter of what they paid for the winger two years ago.
His £80,000 per-week wages could prove to be a stumbling block, though Liverpool may initially subsidise them to make a deal go through.
The 28 year old has made ninety-one appearances since signing from Aston Villa two years ago.
Before moving to Villa Park, Downing spent eight years at Middlesbrough after coming through their youth system, while he also had a short spell on loan with Sunderland during the 2003/04 campaign.
The Hammers have already done business with the Merseyside club this summer having secured a permanent deal for fellow England international Andy Carroll.
