O Jogo is reporting that West Ham are ready to launch a fresh assault on Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.
The Hammers attempted to recruit the Algerian back in January on a six-month loan, but they are now pondering an outright purchase.
Having been impressed by the forward’s performances in Portuguese Primeira Liga, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has instructed the club officials to try and lure the player to Boleyn Ground at the earliest opportunity.
O Jogo understands that the first contacts between the two clubs have already been established, with the €8 million asking price well within West Ham price range.
Islam Slimani, 26, joined the Lions last summer from Algerian side Belouizdad and he went on to score eight goals in just over 1,100 minutes of league football.
After coming off the bench in Algeria’s opening World Cup game against Belgium, the forward is expected to start the clash with Korea Republic and he is 21/10 to score anytime.
