West Ham United are closing in on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier Hernandez, according to Sky Sports.
The Hammers are ready to meet the Mexico international’s release clause as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the forthcoming campaign, with their season opener just over three weeks away.
That game is against Manchester United, the club Hernandez served for for five years earlier this decade during which time he racked up one hundred and fifty-nine times, scoring fifty-nine goals while he helped then win two Premier League titles.
Following his spell at Old Trafford, he moved to Leverkusen following a season-long loan with Real Madrid where he hit nine goals in thirty-three games while he has had a scoring ratio greater than one every two games during his time in the Bundesliga.
He also has one in two for his country after netting forty-eight times in ninety-six outings.
