A report from the Metro is today suggesting that West Ham United are getting closer to securing a new deal for their midfielder Mohamed Diame.
The former Wigan man currently has a buy-out clause in his contract of just £3.5 million, which would be considered a bargain for many given his performance for the Hammers this campaign.
A number of English Premier League sides have been linked with him this month, including the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers.
Arsenal are believed to be the team leading the way though as they need a bit of bite and strength in the middle of the park.
However, Sam Allardyce is confident that he will be playing his football at Upton Park for the foreseeable future.
If West Ham were to agree a new deal with Diame, it is thought he would be offered an increase in wages in replace for a release clause being taken out of the contract.
One thing is for sure, the Hammers are going to do all they can to keep one of their best players at the club and need him if they are to be successful in the English top flight this season.
