West Ham United are looking at pretty much every striker on the market this summer. After their attempts to land Maxi Gomez from Celta have failed and the Uruguayan moved to Valencia, several new names appeared linked with the Hammers.
Yesterday it was Gonzalo Higuaín, who is a surplus to requirements at Juventus, but today that is another Serie A striker – Duvan Zapata. According to The Sun, Colombia international is their new number one target and West Ham are planning a £40m approach for the Sampdoria striker. However, what makes things complicated is his loan situation with Atalanta.
Zapata joined Atalanta on a two-year loan last summer, which means he should stay in Bergamo for another season. Atalanta paid for that loan around £11m and it is probably not going to get terminated. Most probably not considering Atalanta will be playing in the Champions League this season and Zapata had scored 26 goals in all competitions last season.
