West Ham United have been linked with a move for Germany international Mario Gomez, according to the Express.
The Hammers are on the look out for a new striker and have so fair failed to secure deals for Michi Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Tevez.
Christian Benteke and Carlos Bacca remain on the East London club’s radar though Gomez could be a more viable option having ended his loan spell with Besiktas.
The thirty-one year old scored twenty-six goals on route to the Turkish outfit clinching a fourteenth Super Lig title.
Prior to his move to the Istanbul side, Gomez scored fourteen goals in forty-seven outings for parent club Fiorentina while he has also played for Bundesliga sides Stuttgart and Bayern Munich.
He has been capped sixty-eight times for his country but wasn’t included in their victorious 2014 World Cup squad having missed the campaign leading up to the tournament through injury.
