West Ham fans unhappy with Sam Allardyce tactics

Championship promotion chasers West Ham have a crucial showdown with rivals Reading on Saturday at the Boleyn Ground.

If the Irons win they could jump above their opponents into an automatic promotion spot.

Unhappy

The Hammers may be fighting for promotion but their fans seem to dislike boss Sam Allardyce’s tactics. Fans have criticised the style of play and labelled the team as ‘long ball’.

Some even voiced their displeasure at Allardyce’s tactics by singing “ We are West Ham, we play on the floor” at the Hammers recent victory at Peterborough.

Delusion

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has responded to the fans criticism by telling Sky Sports: “ It sounds like not winning (with regards to the ‘West Ham way’)

“ There has never been a ‘West Ham way’ shown to me, not by anyone who has worked at the club. I’ve spoken to a lot of people at the club and no one can tell me what it is, so it is a bit of a delusion.”

Style

I don’t believe there is a right or wrong style of play in football. Different teams have different styles of play that suits their players and management.

Sam Allardyce just happens to be an advocate of a direct style of play and West Ham knew that when he arrived at the club. His teams have never played any other way and the style has proved successful nearly everywhere he has managed.

West Ham’s style was always based more on a passing game and free flowing attacking football according to their fans. However they knew what they were getting when Allardyce was appointed. He wasn’t going to change his whole football philosophy just because he moved to West Ham.

Winning

To put it in the words of Charlie Sheen West Ham are ‘Winning’ at the moment. I just wonder if those West Ham fans that are moaning about the style of football now, will be moaning if the Hammers achieve promotion at the end of the season.

I can’t see many of them complaining that their team will be in the Premier League again, no matter what style of play has got them there. Allardyce’s style has worked fine so far in the East End.

Stability

Sam Allardyce has brought stability to West Ham and it’s exactly what the club needed. Prior to his arrival the team and club were in the mire. Having finished bottom of the Premier League they needed a manager capable achieving instant results.

So far this season Allardyce has managed that, it may not have been pretty on the eye football but the team is achieving decent results. Football is a results business. Not every team can play football like Barcelona or Swansea!

Promotion

The Championship is a really tough league to get out of, unless you get relegated of course. If West Ham achieves promotion then it surely will be considered job well done for Sam Allardyce and his team.

The aim at the start of the season must have been promotion back to the top flight and they are still on course for that.

Support

I have to admit I know a few Hammers fans and they tend to be a bit of a negative bunch because of their past experiences of relegation and disappointment. Well West Ham fans now is the time to be positive and get behind your team.

West Ham have a great chance of promotion and a win against the Royals on Saturday would greatly improve their chances. So West Ham fans if you want your club to achieve promotion get behind your team and manager.

Getting behind them will help your team achieve your seasons goal, promotion and I’m sure that’s all that West Ham fans would have been wishing for at the start of the season.

Will West Ham achieve promotion this season?
