(GSM) – West Ham have been fined £115,000 after being found guilty of breaching FA rules following crowd violence. The crowd’s unacceptable behavior occurred at their Carling Cup match against Millwall in August.

An independent regulatory commission ruled that the Hammers would have to pay the fine, plus another £5,000 in costs for their “failure to ensure their supporters refrained from violent, threatening, obscene and provocative behaviour and the failure to ensure their supporters did not enter the field of play”.

The clashes led to 64 arrests after the stabbing of a Millwall fan outside Upton Park. There were also pitch invasions during the match.

Millwall were cleared of all charges brought against them following the incidents on the evening of the match.

The Hammers now have 14 days to appeal against the decision once they receive written conformation of Wednesday’s ruling.
