West Ham in fresh assault on Slimani

Portuguese newspaper A Bola is reporting that West Ham are set to reignite their interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.

The Hammers attempted to sign the Algerian on loan with an option to buy in the January window, but their offer was rejected by the Lions.

And it appears they are now eyeing a permanent deal as Sam Allardyce plans to reinforce his attacking department.

A Bola has learned that Trabzonspor are keen as well, meaning the Hammers will have to act quickly if they want to get their man.

Islam Slimani, 25, only joined Sporting in the summer from Algerian side Belouzidad, but he has largely impressed at the start of his career in Portugal.

After scoring quite a few important goals by coming off the bench, the Algeria international has nailed down a regular starting berth and currently has eight goals in less than 1,000 minutes of league football.
