According to a recent report from Sky Sports, West Ham United are in talks over the potential signing of Pablo Fornals from Villarreal. The midfielder, aged 23, has been capped by the Spanish national team and made the jump over to Villarreal from Malaga back in 2017. The fee that is being discussed is believed to be in the region of £25 million, which tells you a lot about which direction the Hammers are heading in when it comes to their transfer strategy. The club had a strong season last year but they’ll want to go one or two steps further this time around, and they’ve certainly got the infrastructure with which to do so. Fornals would be the kind of signing that would represent a big shift at the club in terms of their overall quality and goals, and who knows, it could wind up being the catalyst behind them getting back into Europe.
