West Ham United have turned the transfer of Said Benrahma from Brentford into a permanent one and have agreed a loan deal for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, according to multiple sources.
Benrahma joined the Hammers in October last year on an initial season-long loan, for which the Premier League club paid Brentford the reported sum of £4 million. That, coupled with the loan of defender Craig Dawson from Watford, meant they had filled up their quota of allowed domestic loan deals. This month though, West Ham were trying to secure the addition of Lingard, also on loan, and that meant that it was required for them to turn one of the completed loans into a permanent one to open the space up.
They’ve now turned the Benrahma deal into a permanent one for around £20m, and the attacking midfielder has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at the London Stadium. They’ve subsequently agreed a deal amounting to £3m to bring in Lingard, completely out of favour at Old Trafford, for the rest of the season.
