West Ham, Newcastle United and Leicester City eye Gonzalo Plata

According to The Sun (print edition, page 65, November 29, 2020), West Ham United, Newcastle United and Leicester City are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon winger Gonzalo Plata in the January transfer window. It has been reported that Portuguese giants Sporting are open to letting go of the 20-year-old when the transfer window opens next month.

The report has claimed that Sporting would accept an offer of £20 million for Plata. The Portuguese club are willing to send the winger out on loan first in January to generate interest in him. Brighton and Hove, West Ham, Leicester and Newcastle all are reported to be keeping tabs on the Ecuador international winger.

Plata has been on the books of Sporting since 2019. According to WhoScored, the winger made 12 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Portuguese league last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process. The youngster also played 62 minutes in the Europa League in 2019-20, while so far this campaign, he has played 63 minutes in the Portuguese league, according to WhoScored.
