West Ham United are attempting to re-sign Chelsea forward Demba Ba on loan ahead of the new season, the Mirror understands.
The 28 year old spent four months at Upton Park towards the end of the 2010/11 season, though he was unable to help the club avoid relegation to the Championship.
However, seven goals in twelve appearances saw him secure a move to Newcastle United, where he spent eighteen months before transferring to Chelsea in January.
The Senegal international has proved to be far less prolific in front of goal at Stamford Bridge, scoring just twice in fourteen games, and could be moved on to make way for Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle , who is expected imminently.
The Hammers are also readying a move for fellow Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku, should the Belgian international again be allowed to go out on loan.
Lukaku scored seventeen goals in thirty-five league appearances for West Bromwich Albion last season.
