West Ham remain on striker hunt

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has admitted that his side are on the lookout for a new striker before the transfer window closes, according to Sky Sports.

The Hammers are currently short upfront with Enner Valencia set to miss the next twelve weeks with a leg injury, while Andy Carroll is out until at least next month as he continues to struggle following knee surgery.

They also have Diafre Sakho, who was the club’s top scorer last season with twelve goals in all competitions and he, Mauro Zarate and new signing Dimitri Payet all featured in the shock opening weekend victory over Arseal at the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez and Charlie Austin are two of the names to have been linked with a switch to the Boleyn Ground this summer.

Slaven Bilic’s side host Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, and can be backed at 5/4 to take all three points.
