West Ham United are interested in signing Elye Wahi from Montpellier in the summer transfer window, according to The Guardian. The report has claimed that Premier League club are serious about signing Wahi and are now strong contenders to get a deal done with Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier for the services of the 20-year-old forward.
Wahi is one of the best young strikers in Ligue 1 and has huge potential. The 20-year-old has played seven times for the France Under-21 national football team, scoring one goal in the process. The youngster made 29 starts and four substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Montpellier last season, scoring 19 goals and providing five assists in the process. Wahi made 21 starts and 12 substitute appearances in Ligue 1 in 2021-22, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in the process.
West Ham will play in the UEFA Europa League this season after winning the UEFA Europa Conference League last campaign. Meanwhile, Montpellier ended up 12th in the Ligue 1 table last season with 50 points from 38 games.
