West Ham United are interested in signing James Ward-Prowse from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window, according to talkSPORT. The report has claimed that Southampton are bracing themselves for a departure of Ward-Prowse at the end of the season if they get relegated to the Championship. The Saints are unlikely to stand in the 28-year-old England international midfield’s way if he wanted to leave should they end up in the Championship.
Ward-Prowse has been on the books of Southampton since 2003 and has been superb for the Saints over the years. The midfielder has scored 46 goals and created 54 big chances in 329 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. Ward-Prowse has scored six goals and given two assists in 24 Premier League matches for the Saints so far this campaign.
Southampton are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with 18 points from 24 matches, four points behind 17th-placed Leeds United.
