Arsenal have had an opening bid for Declan Rice turned down by London and Premier League rivals West Ham United, according to The Times. The Gunners have made a formal offer of £80 million plus £10 million in add-ons, which the Hammers have rejected. West Ham are looking for over £100 million plus add-ons in transfer fees for the England international midfielder.
Rice is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and is still only 24. The England international has massive potential and could develop into a world-class player in the coming years. Rice played a big role in West Ham staving off relegation from the Premier League as well as winning the UEFA Europa Conference League this past season.
It will be interesting to see what Arsenal now do in regard to Rice. It is clear that the Hammers are not going to budge from their demands, and perhaps the Gunners will have to come back with a new and better offer.
