West Ham United are trying to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax in the summer transfer window, according to 90min. The report has claimed that Premier League club West Ham are locked in talks with Eredivisie outfit Ajax over a move for the Mexico international defensive midfielder.
The Hammers are on the hunt for a replacement for Declan Rice. West Ham sold the England international defensive midfielder to London and Premier League rivals Arsenal and have been searching for a replacement ever since. They are now trying to bring in 25-year-old Alvatez, who can also operate as a central defender.
West Ham have made an initial offer of £25.9 million for Alvarez. Ajax want £30 million. The two clubs are now trying to come to a compromise. Alvarez made 30 starts and one substitute appearance in the Eredivisie for Ajax last season. The defensive midfielder scored three goals and gave three assists in those games.
