West Ham United want to sign Ian Maatsen from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that the Hammers are planning to sign a new left-back in the middle of the season, and Maatsen is on the radar of the Hammers.

However, West Ham are not the only club who are keen on Maatsen. The report has claimed that Barcelona, too, are interested in the 21-year-old, who can operate as a left-back or as a winger and is struggling for playing time at Chelsea at the moment. The Netherlands Under-21 international has made one start and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made two starts and one substitute appearance in the Carabao Cup for the Blues.

Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League table at the moment with 25 points from 19 matches, 12 points behind Manchester City in fourth place. Meanwhile, West Ham currently find themselves seventh in the league table with 30 points from 18 games, seven points off the UEFA Champions League places.
